INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY IS THE DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE MOURNING MOTHERS, THE DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE BRAVE IMPRISONED WEMEN ANDTHE DAY OF WOMEN LIBERATION

translated by:Kamran Ghasri
International Women’s Day, Tuesday March 8th., is one hundred years old this year. The struggle of different groups of people against dictatorship is changing the face of the Middle East and those who were singing the of the revolutions, are today dumbfounded by the end of an era. The women of the Middle East are also yearning for better days to come and equality and celebrating the victories so far.
This is when a hundred years ago, millions of women responded to Clara Zetkin’s call in Germany and marched in the streets for their rights. Since then, women in other parts of the world have gained liberation and equal rights because of their own fighting, which otherwise would not have been possible.
In Iran also, brave women, while being under enormous pressure, are out at the protests and fighting along men for equal rights and the restoration of human rights and some are spending their best years in prisons because of the arrest warrants issued as a result of the show trials.
Women and mothers such as Zeinab Jalalian, Bahareh Hedayat, Alieh Eghdam-Doost, Mahdiyeh Golroo, Atefeh Nabavi, Sahba Rezvani, Manijeh Nasrolahi, Soosan Tabianian, Farah Vazehan, Masoumeh Yavari, Nazila dashti, Zahra Jabari, Kefayat Malek Mohamadi, Reyhaneh Hadj Ebrahim Dabagh, Honae Alsadat Ghazi Mir Saied, Parvin Javad Zadeh, Fatemeh Khoram Joo, Hengameh Shahidi, Mahsa Rahmati, Nasrin Sotoodeh, ronak Safarzadeh, Shabnam Madanzadeh, Nazanin khosravani, Zoleikha Mousavi and hundred and thousand other women who are imprisoned because of the discriminating laws and are victimized by the current policies and the lack of rule of law and the ideological bankruptcy of the regime.
International Women’s Day is one hundred years old, but in our country, mothers are mourning and the barbarian regime adds to to their sufferings.
Mothers of all those whom were killed during the sixties, mothers of Khavaran, Mothers of Neda and Sohrab, The Mothers of those killed in the uprisings of the last thirty two years, Kurdish mothers, mothers from other national minorities and the mothers of those whom were killed recently, such as Saneh Jaleh, Ami-Hosein Tehranchi, Mohammad mohair and Hamed Noor Mohammadi. In this land, the streets are red with the blood of a daughter or a son everyday and the regime adds their bodies to the unmarked old mass graves and do not return them to their families.

Today, we the mothers and grand mothers who marched in the streets in 57 and sacrificed our children for freedom, social justice and equal rights, have gained only endless suffering, corruption, are willing to come out and march again with our walking canes and in our wheelchairs for human dignity and our children and our own abused rights.

In the region called the Middle Eat, women have always faced inequality and their suffering has been doubled. By each victory, the new leaders or those who aspire to be the new leaders are scared of the demands of the other half and try to silence their demands.
At the centennial of March the 8th., The International Women’s Day, we, The Mothers of Laleh Park and our supporters, are asking all the progressive movements in Iran and the Middle east to unite and declare that as in the past, we do not take even one step back from our demands. We stress our desires as mothers for a peaceful and better world for our children and ourselves and stand in solidarity with our children.
With you all, we demand:
Equal rights for women in economic, social and legal forms.
Abolishing all the laws regarding capital punishment, stoning and torture and cancelling all the current orders.
Unconditional freedom of all the political prisoners, including the women.
Open and just prosecution and punishment of all those who ordered and enabled all the killings within the last thirty two years, in people’s courts.
